What sport/positions.

How similar are their primary position and the awarded position? Like TE vs WR or RB? Or QB vs FS

Don't all sports have it?

For some reason volleyball doesn't have it. I think I will sue for discrimination.

This is for high school teams. I think all varsity high school teams have it.

I think first team means if there was an all district all star team to go play against other districts, they would be on that team.

I have no idea what "setter of the year" means. Perhaps they would be the starter on that team?

At the end of HS VB regular season (I.e. prior to district/region play off), each district will have all varsity coaches met, and they will vote for 1st team district, 2nd team district by position (i.e. Outside hitters, Defensive players, Middle Blocker, etc). They will also vote for Position of the year (i.e. Setter for the year, etc). These awards will be handed to individual player by the School coach. Then they will have similar voting for region. These regional awards may be presented to the players at school or at the regional matches. Keep in mind that the voting is not about player performance and metric (i.e. # of kills, # of digs, etc) but sportmanship and other factos are considerred. These awards mean a lot to the players, and also to the college for either sport scholarship or regular college application.

So if one kid gets setter of the year, can another kid get libero of the year or is there just one "of the year" award?

The sports my DCs play do not. I've heard of All-Met that the Washington Post puts out so maybe that's what this is????

Usually coaches nominate and vote, and if there is a first team all district that tends to be the best (most votes) player at each position. As pps mentioned there is always some politics in this. Some individual sports are head to head, and the winner of the conference championship would be all-conference, or the top x number in the state will be all state (swimming, wrestling, tennis, etc) You’ll see other lists, like All-Met, and those nominations are submitted to the Washington Post in this case by coaches.

If the conference has a website the lists are typically posted there, and nowadays there are Instagram posts.

That's what you should expect from teams sport(s). It is completely subjective.

What does district first team or goalie of the year mean?
Is this published somewhere online?
