Michigan OOS costs significantly more than Hillsdale. Hillsdale is priced with its peers like Spring Arbor and Siena Heights.

Yes, I’d be annoyed . Any student that isn’t invested in making connections at their own school (friends, clubs, parties…) is not getting the full value of the experience. I’d have a conversation over the holidays about whether she should be applying to transfer after this year or whether she wants to invest in the full experience of this expensive school.

This! Are you trying to buy her friendships? School is for an education. I honestly think she is freaking amazing and I don’t know her. She is doing well in school, and maintaining old but stable and positive friendships. Where in your post do you hint that she is trying to itch at being at the public school?

Making new friends will take time but it will happen.

It's normal to have friends from different places.

It's been 2 months. She'll build her friend base at her own school soon enough.

Would this bother you as a parent? We're certainly not rich, it was somewhat of a stretch for us to afford a private college. (No debt.) She begged us and we made it happen. Well, a handful of her best high school friends landed at a large public university about 30 minutes away. She talks to or texts her mother on a daily basis and it seems every other day she's headed to and returning from the public university her friends are at. We're not worried about her grades, she's a great student, but I'm concerned she's not dedicating herself to the private college and classmates there. She claims she loves her college. I can't help but feel like what is the point of wasting 3x more for the private if she's itching to be at the cheap public all the time.
