This. We have 4 cars. I only carry keys to mine (or the one I'm driving). I rarely if ever need the other keys-which are in a drawer at home.

This. We have 4 cars. This works well. I keep one key for the car I drive most in my pocket. And there's one on our key rack for occasional drivers of it.

The keys for each car are on separate rings on hooks in the hallway. Nobody takes the key for a car they are not driving.

Keys live at home unless you take a car, and then you take that car's key. I have never carried even one car key around with me, when not driving.

I think a murse is definitely the way to go OP.

I wouldn't carry all the keys for the house with me. When your kid locks the keys in the trunk, they'll learn how to solve that problem. You can take your time arriving to help, with a stop at home first to get the spare set.

If you are at work and his school is close to home, you having the keys could actually complicate things.

Primary driver gets one set and one set of each car's keys stay on key counter. Never needed to carry all keys. I did get an easy to use key ring so I can attach or detach keys as needed. Also a keypad lock to enter house was a great investment.

It was a pita to keep track of, maintenance, inspection, insurance, registration, toll tags, gas, cleaning etc. and a huge expense.

All keys go into a drawer in the kitchen as soon as you get home. Second set of keys also kept in the drawer. No one in our family carries more than the key to the car they are driving.

Knowing my kid, losing or locking his key in the trunk will be probably the most likely problem.

As a teenager who locked the door with the key in the ignition multiple times, I was always super glad my mom kept the spare on her key ring.

We keep our car keys on separate chains. There are two keys per car and one set is used by the car's primary driver and the other set shared by the remaining drivers. The apps are good for locking or unlocking a car, but are clumsy for starting it (if they even do that which not all do).

Do you really need to have all three keys with you at all times? I don't carry a car key at all unless I am planning to drive somewhere.

And here I was unhappy with my two car keys on my bunch of keys!

I don't know, OP. Dealing with the same problem here.

Each car has keys that live on our key rack. You take the key you need. One of our car works via an apple wallet key, so no physical key required.

We have 3 cars now that DS is driving. As the DH, I tend to want to carry all 3 keys since if he has problems I will be the one showing up to help, I’ll be taking his car to service, etc.

So I have 3 car keys and a house key, and modern car keys are so chunky, I feel like I’m unbalanced with keys in my pocket.

What do most people do with multiple cars? Should I buy more expensive cars that have an app to unlock and start and ditch keys! Time for a murse?
