I have a 9th grader at a HS but we aren't feeling like it is suitable for her
(For context she was in private school from 6-8, but wasn't made aware of any of the MCPS programs she could've applied to / qualified for)
The classes aren't as challenging, but going back to private HS will cost an arm and a leg.
Are there any full-time programs for 10th graders? Or should we just stick to her current school?
“Made aware” - that’s on you! You should have looked into this. I’m sorry you missed the boat but if your kid was in private school how do you anticipate that she be “made aware” of programs?!

Is she enjoying school otherwise? Friends? Activities?

She's enjoying school, and is even on student council. IB classes aren't offered, but she plans on taking 2 APS 10th grade.

That should help. AP classes are pretty much the only challenging ones.

None of those are for a private school mom who thinks her daughter is too good for public school.

So who is the “we” who finds it unsuitable? Meddling mom? Is there a certain boy or girl you are trying to keep her from?

My daughter had a similar situation and switched to early college junior year. It has been really good for her and it is free.
