I wasn’t planning to buy my second baby anything for his first birthday. At this age, he’s fascinated by simple household things! But then I saw that Lovevery came out with a new switchboard toy for the 11-12 month kit. I’m annoyed they’re charging me $25 for it when the toy it replaces (a cotton bag) is worth far less. But my guy has a fine motor delay and I think this could help.

A personalized book like I See Me. We have so much stuff with my older kid’s name, so I try to get something with his name/picture.

For the first two years for kid #2 I took my older kids old toys and wrapped them for birthday and Xmas. A kid under 2 does not care about presents and so I just handed down stuff he was going to get anyway.

If you already have all the "things", I would do something that could be a keepsake. My mom kept remarkable care of some of my early baby things that my DC has now enjoyed.

For us the gift wasn't just about us, but about the older sibling seeing the gift.

We had all girls and did a baby doll at that age for each one. A special stuffy or big boy blanket (even if you don't use it yet) would also work. Or like PP said a hooded bath towel. Something personal.

At that age I get things that we need: new hooded bath towels, Potty Barn anywhere chair, pair of Freshly Picked moccasins, winter hat, etc.

At this point the gift is more about you than the kid.

Our younger son is about to turn one, and I have no idea what to get him. We already have so much stuff: walkers, ride-on toys, all kinds of blocks and vehicles, and everything that is plastic and lights up and makes noise. I feel like I should get him something, but I’m having a hard time coming up with stuff that he would enjoy that we don’t already have. Also, should I try and get him something just he would enjoy, or do I assume that his older brother (2.5) will just steal whatever I get him? Better to get a gift that appeals to both kids? Open to your gift suggestions.
