It is so weird that some people seem to think that would the invention of social media it's now "impolite" to have normal boundaries.

I had an extended family member who kept saying really offensive things so I unfriended him. FWIW, this wasn't political polarization or anything. It was just casually mean and offensive. Newer to instagram only to showcase very specific art projects. My only followers are fellow creators and I switched to a private setting. Early on, my profile was open to everyone and it soon filled with weirdos and random acquaintances. A creepy DM changed my mind.
