My tiny 2nd child didn’t five step in a regular car seat u til she was 12. Yes, she was in middle school using a booster. 6th grade.
We did have one of the very small boosters, same color as
The seat. Not sure if anyone makes that type now.

Don't worry about the weight limit, worry about whether or not the seat and seatbelt fits them properly without it. If not, then stick with the booster seat.

My 9 year old uses one, but she's also like 4'1" so she's gonna be in one forever...

Have you looked at the safety 1st incognito backless boosters? I switched to that when one of my twins was completely out of everything and his twin still needed a backless booster. I’d keep your child in the one he has for now, but when you’re ready to switch that’s a good choice.

He's taller than my 11 yo 6th grader. She stopped using a booster when she started middle school this fall. The seatbelt adjusts pretty low in our car, so it fits her.

Yes. There are height requirements.

My 8.5yo 3rd grader is in a high back booster and we plan to keep using it for awhile

My 9 y.o. is still in a backless booster. No shame in that game. A car accident is one of the most likely ways your kid gets hurt so it makes sense to be cautious. Once DC gets big enough, we'll move to just a seat belt.

I've been able to shut down comments from other kids with "that's how we do it in my car". There were parents with kids out of boosters by 1st and 2nd grade for convenience sake and I just think they were not prioritizing the right things. I can't protect my kids from all the things, but I can at least try to protect them from internal injuries in a fender bender!

My 9 year old 4th grader just broke 50 lbs, so of course she’s in a booster. I think most of her friends are out of it by now, but they are much bigger in every way. I tell DD when she is tall enough that I don’t have to worry about the shoulder strap then she’s done with the booster. I’m thinking it might be this year sometime. She is teeny tiny, so most kids are probably fine.

Yes, of course.

My 10 years old DD, 4'9", still uses a backless booster seat. She likes the regular seatbelt strap is on her shoulder rather than her neck.

Are you following the guidelines for how he fits the seat and seatbelt? If so, I wouldn't worry about the weight limit on the seat.
