If you have to ask, it's too expensive. This is not all necessary.

I wouldn't sign up for the group band until they know they like it 1 on 1. And you'll need a drum set in your house to practice. See if they can get a trial month or a few lessons before commitment.

My son started with a week of summer camp and learned he wasnt committed to drums, switched to keyboard and bass and I was so glad we hadnt bought the drum set.

Just have them learn drums in school during school band? It's free? All the drummers do it that way. I think few get private lessons.

It costs like $400/month to have 1:1 drum lesson 30 min per week plus 1 hr/week group rehearsal for kid rock band. It is like 4x 1:1 lessons and 4x group lessons for a newbie with no musical background and can't read music sheets. I bet we may have to do like at least 6 months or so to see some results. I have never enrolled music class, not sure if it is considered affordable or too expensive. Kid is interested in drum and there're other options like guitar, bass, vocal or keyboard. I am not sure if drum is the most easiest or most difficult to learn. It sounds fun but I am not sure if it wise to start like that for long run. Advise pleaae.
