Regardless of whether they're in style I don't wear them because they don't look good on my body type. I'm more of an A-line skirt person.

Below the knee/midi is whats in style now for pencil skirts, but wear whatever you want.

I love my pencil skirts and although I have not worn them into an office i years, they're staying. In fact, they were some of my original "spark joy" items when doing Marie Kondo.

I recently got a midi pencil skirt (Everlane, the one in the "dream" fabric) and it's the incredibly bly comfortable and versatile. I wore it with ballet flats or slides and a tee tucked in when it was warmer, and now I'm wearing it with tights, Chelsea boots, and a sweater or turtleneck.

It's comfy and goes with everything but way more polished than jeans or joggers. I feel so pulled together in it.

I have very nice pencil skirts, currently languishing in my closet. I finally realized they weren't flattering on my short legs, so now I'm wearing mini skirts, or longer A-line skirts.

Anything can be in fashion if it looks good on you, OP.
