Last year I kind of went with my 6th, but would have been fine with her going with friends. She had vague plans to meet up with friends “along the way” and at that point would have split with her sister. I didn’t want my 4th to be going alone, so I tailed behind them. She never met up with friends so it wasn’t an issue.
My 9th grader is going with friends again this year. As long as they are in costume I say, why not?
He’s been going with a group sans parents since 6th, but in 6th we did give him geographic boundaries. Our neighborhood in Arlington is very safe.
