To the ppl saying you can’t expunge once you leave middle school you are wrong!!

Students who completed a high school credit bearing course (World Languages, Algebra, and Geometry) in the 2023-2024 school year may request the final grades for these courses be omitted from the high school transcript within the first quarter of the school year following completion of the course. If you do not wish to keep this class, final grade, and credit on the high school transcript, you must submit a “Request to Expunge High School Courses Taken in Middle School” form to your student’s high school counselor by October 31, 2024. This form may be obtained at the following link: https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/forms/is104.pdf. Classes taken in the summer between 8th and 9th grade are unable to be expunged.

Nothing, for most people. Everything for people set on their child attending a top 25 school. Even then a B in a high school math class as a 7th grader is probably not going to hurt an otherwise straight A student.

That said, you have to expunge the grade in MS. A child already in HS will not be able to expunge the grade. This has been tried and discussed in the FCPS thread. There are parents trying to get that 4.25 to 4.something higher and try and expunge grades from MS, math and foreign languages, or change an A in summer PE to a P/F and they are told it is too late.

If the OP had asked for the grade to be expunged at the end of 8th grade, it would have happened. Now the kid is in 9th grade so it won’t.

Standard diploma needs 3 math credits 1 verified math credit (w SOL)

Honors diploma needs 4 math credits 1 verified math credit (w SOL)

So, he’d have geometry 1 cr, Alg II 1 cr, + 2 more classes.

Geo and Alg II have sol’s, so they’re verified.

I am not sure, but I think that if you expunge a class you also lose the sol on it.

There is a set number of qualified math credits that he needs for graduation and a different number for an honors diploma. If he’ll take math classes until the end of high school and will get b or higher on those, expunge!

I believe it is too late, you needed to do that at the end of last year.

That said, a B is a good grade. There is nothing wrong with it.

DC got a B in Algebra 1 honors in 7th grade. He is a freshman now. Should request to expunge his grade. The teacher was very tough and DC had some thing going that he ended up with a B. Has anyone made similar decision? What made you choose either way.
