I live in upper NW and my kids have no medical needs, so different perspective from OP's on the Hill. I myself have some medical needs that would cause problems if there was, like, a prolonged siege, but I'm not worried about post-election period at all. Nothing is going to happen in residential neighborhoods in D.C.

Bc of all the changes in ballot counting, etc,8 think there may be a long drawn out contested process to declare winner. I foresee a lot of fighting within states. So, I think you’ll have warning. I’d brace myself for the days around DC certification and the days around federal certification.
Better to be prepared! I’m glad my college kid will be home for a break mid December to mid January and out of dc. I’d like her home from Election Day until Inauguration Day, since she’s in dc.

I live in Dupont and we aren't doing any prepping. But I'm a bit further from the Mall than you and I don't have a medically fragile child. I think the day of the election will be fine because they aren't going to be able to call it until late at night, possibly the early hours of the next morning. There are rumblings among the business community about concerns on November 6 (and some businesses are closed/remote for that day) but I think MPD, the Capitol police and all law enforcement will be well prepared.

DC will surely be there this time if things get rough on the nights after the election . . . to issue lots of parking tickets to rioters.

I think the days after will be pretty bad. There’s going to be lots of anger out there, particularly in cities.

Anyone doing any (mild, moderate) doomsday prepping for Election Day and lead up to inauguration? Am I being silly asking? I live just off the Hill and have a medically fragile child. While I am always prepped for mild shit to go down (lots of extra meds and supplies ready to be put in car with kid if needed), I want to get a pulse on what everyone else is thinking. Maybe DC will be the safest place in the US?
