Op - because there is some contact with 5 year olds running around like crazy. I was just wondering if there is a maximum weight.

My son is 4. He weighs 52 pounds. He wants to do football in the fall so there is a chance he will be a 55-60 pound 5 year old.

He will be fine. It’s a no contact sport. The contact level is about the same at soccer at that age (soccer honestly might be considered more contact). I doubt you would be concerned about your kid playing soccer.

Op - ironically I do worry about DS playing soccer because he is 20 pounds heavier and 6” taller than some of the kids. He will push them when he is getting the ball or hit the ball so hard that it will hit another little kid and that kid will start crying.

That is that kids problem. Being aggressive and going to the ball is part of sports.

My DD plays flag football. There is no requirement to weigh in or give them child’s weight.

Geez, just put some pads on them and have them play the real thing.

I don’t think you can do tackle until 9 years old.

Why would there be a problem? It’s a no contact sport. You pull a flag.

I'd be surprised if there was a maximum weight issue, but checking with the club always makes sense.

Is there a maximum weight for beginner flag football? I know there is a minimum weight of 40 pounds and the kids need to be 5 years old. But is there a maximum weight? If I have a 5 year old who is 55ish pounds will that be a problem?
