Since birth? They've always been around gay couples who are family members and friends.

Another family at our daycare was a same sex parent family. My DD was probably 2-3 when she came home telling me her friend had two Moms and no Dad. We said yep, some families have two Moms, two Dads, one Mom/one Dad and some families only have one parent - no big deal. By PK they were talking about different families in school.

Exactly this. 3s preschool at our Catholic preschool-8th grade school. Everyone talks about their families and read books about families of all kinds. It’s not a big deal if even our second-rate Catholic school can handle this conversation.

Like age 2? No reason for it to be some big taboo subject. Our dentist is gay. We have relatives who are gay. It's a very simple concept - you love whoever you love.

I wasn't avoiding the topic but discussed it explicitly in 3's pre-k when another student had two moms. nbd.

There were a lot of same-sex parents at school and church, including one of my kid’s best friend’s moms, so I don’t think we ever “taught” it, per se. It was just normal. No big deal.

I don't think it is explicitly taught in school. We have talked about it since toddlerhood. They have friends with 2 moms or 2 dads. We've read books about all types of families since they were born. This should just be part of life

OP what do you mean "same sex relationships"? My kid started learning about these in preschool when they discussed what families are. Is that what you mean?

DS has known about same sex relationships for as long as he's known about what relationships and families are. I don't remember what age that was but 3ish maybe? I know in his preschool some of their books about families had same sex families, single parent families, etc and I had no issues with that.
