Your son got caught cheating and you want to ask the teacher to give him extra credit?? If this isn’t a troll post, there are truly some nut jobs on this forum.

No, I don’t think so. I’m the teacher who just posted. This type of parent contact is rather common.

I agree that he should have gotten a zero, and he also received consequences at home. However, I really don't want him to get a B this semester since he is on track for T10s. I asked him to email the teacher about extra credit and how to raise his grade, but the teacher responded this morning saying they aren't going to allow that.

I really have no idea what to do. Should I email the teacher?

There is nothing you can do. Your DC was caught cheating. He's lucky the ZERO is his only consequence and that it didn't end up on his disciplinary record.

Teacher here, and I agree. The B is a result of the cheating, and I would not offer extra credit solely to counteract the consequence of the student’s actions. (I don’t offer extra credit at all, actually.)

The consequence could be far greater, including a mark on his record and dismissal from all honor societies.

Please take a step back here and consider what kind of pressure you are putting on your child to go to a highly selective college that caused him to cheat? Regardless of GPA, that does not sound like the best result for your child.

I've never called, "Troll," before but this one really takes the cake.

I know it's stressful but you should let him suffer ht natural consequences of his actions. A B will not matter in the long run. Personally, I think these schools really need to crack down on cheating. It's out of control and very. unfair. to the kids that. don't cheat and don't get perfect scores.

Email the teacher? Maybe try parenting your child. Where do you think they learn cheating is ok?

Nope. That’s life. One B will not keep him out, especially if he learns and grows from this and finds some meaning to his life besides grades
