There are a lot of shlubby women out there and some have spouses who are definitely more attractive than them .

I know two couples who very clearly meet this description.

I have literally never seen an attractive husband married to a "shlubby wife." It doesn't happen. They don't want unattractive women, and don't have to date them. Full stop.

I know a lot of couples like this, but they looked similar in their wedding photos.

I know a few couples like this. Like a pp said, they were about the same level of attractiveness in their wedding photos.

Women can get kind of shlubby in their forties if they don’t put effort into their appearance, including dying gray hair, some time in the gym, and an updated age-appropriate wardrobe.

Some people look nice but aren't superficial.

I always wonder about mismatched couples like this. I know one of this variety.

Yeah, OP I know you’re being snarky and trying to start some counter thread against the “schlubby husband” thread before this one, but schlubby wives and hot husband are not a thing. Men don’t seek out women for safety, money and control the same way that women do, so this whole thread is moot. Probably 1 out of 1M couples are schlubby wife.

Yes. Although I also know guys that were not that good looking in their 20s—kind of geeky, but by their 40s are actually pretty hot. It’s like the Benedict Cumberbatch thing. Whereas late 40s are tough for us women. By 70, the women usually look way better than their husbands though.

And vice versa. More often.

How does this happen? I imagine it’s a wealthy heiress with poor marriage prospects (based on her looks and figure) but some guy sees a nice meal ticket, possible CEO position in FIL’s business.
