So you beat it or just mix in the powdered sugar? This sounds good and I might try it with the cooks illustrated yellow cake. My kids wouldn’t like it but I think I would love it with a layer of crushed peanuts like a snickers cake.

Southern Living had a great one in the 80s or 90s. See if it's online. Called Caramel Cak
No grains of sugar on sides of pan you make frosting in or it gets grainy
