It sounds like your kid knew what they wanted and applied accordingly. Why would you "make" them apply to a certain type of school?

While a huge fan of the Service Academies and they certainly have a ton of school spirit, I'm not sure I'd call them SLAC although USNWR seems to think so. They're kind of a category unto themselves, in my opinion. That said.....

Elon is small with D1 athletics.

But imo smaller schools tend to lose a lot.

West Point, Annapolis, and Air Force Academy all have lots of school sprit. And Army and Navy football are both undefeated and ranked in the top 25 this year. Army is ranked even higher than Michigan. Can't beat that.
