Sure maybe it doesn't in your case or OP's but when I see someone asking if a teen brushed their teeth or what they had for breakfast etc it to me seems a tad controlling for a teen, and as a pp out parents who operate this way don't always realize it.

Not op, but I occasionally see casual lies about things I'm totally flexible about and wouldn't care either way. I don't get that.

About brushing teeth and walking the dog? That isn't trying to get away with stuff without Mom and Dad knowing. That's just being lazy and not caring about lying.

It's definitely not a good trait and not the normal that people want to see but many people lie. Just look at society. Many good people in the country do not do this and have never behaved this way. Someday we will understand better why it's so hard for some and not for others.

Yes. Parents do it also, telling them things like "serial killers" are people who eat too much cereal, or that the tooth fairy is real. etc.

DC lies so effortlessly about small daily things like she didn’t walk the dog but said she did, didn’t brush her teeth but said she did, ate crackers for breakfast but implied she ate eggs. Am I dealing with a sociopath or is this normal teen stuff?
