Likewise -- if I am pressed for time on that night's dinner, I buy the sliced ones. I feel happy knowing that someone is looking down on me for my low standards, because I think it's more common that I'm suspected of being a food snob.

Most mushrooms are dirty at the store. That's why you rub (not rinse) mushrooms when you prepare them.

Nothing bad happens if you wash them properly like any other vegetable. They are grown in manure for christs sake.

They sterilize the manure or the wrong fungus might grow.

They look dirty. Gross. I don’t mind slicing my own. I miss the pre-pandemic loose shrooms you could pick and bag yourself.

I buy them too when I need sliced fresh mushrooms. I only have so much time (and energy!) to make dinner. If pre-sliced mushrooms gets me two more minutes, I’m going for it.

They rot faster than whole mushrooms. They are at sliced to the thickness that any particular recipe needs.
Are these salvaged damaged Mushrooms?

I understand that people who can't cut appreciate pre-sliced things, but that's under 10% of the consumer base not half.

People are spoiled, lazy, and dumb. What do you expect?
Could say the same about all take out fast food.
