And how is it nowadays?

lol

The guy who created UA is most certainly not a genius. Far from it. He hustled his way to success (after being tossed out of Prep).

I have friends/family who went to UCLA, Cal, Stanford eons ago.

They admit that there is zero chance they'd get in today. Even some of the lower rung CA schools are hard to get into now.

Times change. UMD is no different.

Around 1989 or 1990.

She donated 500k so she seems to have realized it’s a good school.

Letter to the Editor
The Diamondback

“When my TERP alumni magazine arrived today, I was very surprised to discover Connie Chung on the cover as part of “Maryland’s Dream Team.” My mind immediately flashed back to a time probably in the late 1980s, when, along with other friends on Hagerstown Six, I watched Chung make an appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman. During their conversation, Letterman sensed some awkwardness in Chung and he pressed her to reveal where she had gone to school. Chung would not say, suggesting it was embarrassing. When she finally admitted she’d gone to this university, the campus was treated to echoing boos that seemed to come from the many dorm lounges that were also watching. At least Letterman insisted it was a good school.

When I spoke with a fellow alumnus about this, he said we should forgive her. He’s right. It is nice to see that Chung’s finally come around to supporting the university. I just wish she’d thought that way back then. Donations are great, but good words can go a long way, too.”

Connie Chung was embarrassed to say she attended UMD when she appeared on Letterman years ago.

Now? She has a book to sell and is speaking at UMD.

I guess she likes the university now that she can sell the audience her book?
