Lots of people marry buns who mooch off them. If you are someone without ambition and can find a person willing to let you live off them…kind of the jackpot for the moocher. There are men and women out there doing that. Why adult and support yourself if you have zero ambition if you can find someone to do it for you.

OP I didn't have a career at that age. We married when we were both 26. I found one and have had 4 kids. I make about 300k more than my DH.

Guess what -- my MIL still thinks he takes care of the family since he went to a T10 college
and has been in the same "career" snce we married. It makes us both giggle now 27 years later.

That was me 30 years ago. Except no fiancé, lol. I finally found work that I enjoyed and have a solid career now, making a smidge over $100k. Some people take awhile to find their footing. It sounds like she works, which is good. If she’s a solid person, I’d be happy for him.

Some people with Phd's and very important careers make peanuts. Some lawyers choose to SAH after they have kids. Some primary earners in a family become disabled and the spouse gets a better job to compensate. Some people who have "no money of their own" start a business and then sell it for millions.

She is nice, they are in love, they will work out how their lives will go financially.

Maybe being a SAHM will be her career. Perhaps, they already discussed and planned for this and they did not involve you?

What about your daughter marrying a man with no career? He is good looking and he loves her.

Does she want to be SAHM? Would he be okay supporting her? I personally wouldn’t love it but I’ve always been achievement oriented. I know someone who graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree, a very bright gal but only worked at call centers until she could get married and have babies.

She sounds great. Late 20s doesn't have to have a career or money of her own. She loves him and he loves her? That is all you can ask for.

How would you feel about your son (who has a semi lucrative career but nothing crazy) marrying a woman who is college educated but makes close to minimum wage in her late 20’s? This is my son. She’s pretty and nice but has no career or money of her own. They’re both the same age.
