Yes. Just went to parent teacher conference and the teacher initiated a hug with my kid. I was happy to see it.

I thought this was about other parents because every year my kids befriend parents I do not know. They run to hug them and the parents know my kids by name.

My 4th grader loves her one teacher that hugs. I was kind of surprised they still hug kids at that age, but I'm glad my daughter has more person in her life that hugs her.

I teach in elementary school. I never initiate a hug, but yes if a kid hugs me I do a one-arm side hug back. Sometimes a kid throws their arms around my waist and I’ll pat their back a little.

When I taught preschool I got and gave real hugs all the time. There was no getting around it 😂 kids just throw themselves on you!!

My daughter's teacher gives every kid a goodbye of their choice (hug, high-five, fist bump) at the door in the afternoon. My kid goes fist bump, but lots of kids pick hug.

Teachers tend to turn somewhat sideways for the hugs so they're a little more shoulder to shoulder than front to front, but some are definitely huggers. If they don't turn, there's a bit of arms length to the hugs. In other words, I've always seen it in a way that was affectionate but still appropriate.

The school psychologist at my kids' elementary school gets lots of hugs in the hallway whenever I see her. Kids are always hugging her! I didn't think that was allowed.
