I just saw the DOE score for my supposedly "high performing school" (high SES neighborhood with kids from a neighboring community housing development). The scores indicated "accredited with conditions". Do you think this is based on the number of students living in poverty with other issues that impact testing and the students who are still recovering from the pandemic (everyone)? Do you even care? I felt like the school put so much emphasis on test taking. My elementary students had folders with goals for their scores, despite getting in the highest bracket. They had so much anxiety about the tests I almost wanted to opt out but I know my students' scores help the school (local). What are the implications for students who attend an accredited school with conditions? Is this simply a reflection of SES and other social and economic challenges? Should I be concerned about the quality of education my students are receiving? FWIW, both of my students received near perfect scores on the SOLs and MAP.
