At the risk of raising the hater... we looked at a LOT of LACs for DD who was set on environmental science. She liked Juniata best. It's really a gem for environmental science.

I'd say most Jesuit colleges are hidden gems and I'm surprised they aren't more popular (outside of the couple super popular ones). Hits the sweet spot for a lot of kids with mid-size + city locations. My friend's DD is very happy at University of Scranton.

+1. Family friends have a kid who attended with low test scores, before TO. Had a great outcome, now happily employed in a big tech company in the Northwest. Parent can't speak highly enough about this school.

Intellectually rigorous, no athletic scholarships at all. Great new buildings, fantastic dorms. Engineering, accounting, Chinese (one of the best in the country) .. they deliver the goods. And San Antonio is a gem.

Any school with a nice environment. Most degrees don’t need to be prestigious. Go where you can’t fall through the cracks or can at least enjoy a nice lifestyle. College of Charleston, Arizona, Flagler, Sewanee, Colorado.

for the last 2 years High Point has had accreditation issues.
It is not a hidden gem.

What's your favorite safety or low target?

A place you think is underrated, or an easier admit from here because of geography. A place with new and exciting growth, or an old reliable that doesn't get the ink. A school that blew you away during a tour, or you think will be impossible to get into in 10 years.
