What are the linear algebra options? I've heard that it's offered only at MC or at a Magnet? Is there a third option? MC credits don't transfer to a school my kid wants to attend.
Some other high schools offer it.

High school credits don't transfer either.

If you're going to a school where credits don't transfer, then it doesn't matter where you take LA, because the school wants all students, even those advanced in math, to get a full 4 year college education. The school will place you in an appropriate math course regardless of prior learning credit.
Why would you choose to attend a super elite college, and then try to avoid actually attend it? That defeats the purpose, especially in the modern age where elite school diplomas are no longer respect. You go to an elite college for the experience of being there, not to rush out with the degree.

Thank you...

I didn't know - this is a great suggestion - thanks!

Will any UMD work? Can it be an extension campus? For some reason the counselor seems to think only MC would be accepted.

Who cares if the MC credit transfers? If you took it in HS, unless it was an AP class for which the student took and passed the exam there would not transfer credit either.

Best you can hope for it to ask the school to evaluate the class for transfer credit or advance standing.

This is why there is really no reason to advance kids that far in math. If they can handle it, great, but it won’t actually get them the college credit.

It will. Many magnet students who take it also have the option to test out of Math 240 @UMDCP on completion of this course.

Just be careful..my childs college would not give college credit for any class that counted towards HS graduation

The reason to advance kids in math is to give them a better education, and spend college time and money on learning more complex material.

If they know linear algebra to the school's satisfaction, they can still take more advanced classes. They just have to take the full number of credits.

OP, instead of asking about credit, ask about how students are placed in math.

Will the school take the credit from anywhere?

There is a lot wrong with your statement.
Letting external institutions limit your child's progress... what would go wrong?

Some schools have it others don’t. The third option is for the kid to go to another school for that class but our school refuses to arrange it as we max out of classes and Mc is not an option.
