OP here. Wow what a fantastic list! Thank you for taking the time to put it together, there's lots of books / authors here I've not previously heard of and shall enjoy investigating.


I hope you find some you enjoy! I love making book lists.

Also, I just realized I put the 57 Bus under YA fiction, it is actually YA nonfiction and very compelling/well done. I recommend not reading the book description ahead of time ... that was how I read it and it made for a more interesting experience I think.

Cozy Crime -- I don't even know what this is and I have a grad degree in fiction writing
Autobiography -- It's more memoir, but Speak, Memory (Nabokov)
Historical Fiction -- Shadow Country (Matthiessen)
YA Fiction -- The Hate U Give (Thomas)
Fantasy/Sci Fi -- Fantasy: The Mists of Avalon (Zimmer Bradley) and Sci FI: Never Let Me Go (Ishiguro)

Thanks for this great list! Cozy Crime is quite a recent definition, a UK moniker for domestic crime mysteries like some of the Anthony Horowitz books, and probably even Agatha Christie. Crimes that take place in small, domestic settings.

Anthony Horowitz's Magpie Murders - hilariously funny and twisty
Michael J. Fox's autobiographies - well written and with real insights into his life as well as the rest of Hollywood
Shadow on the Mountain by Margi Preus (historical fiction / YA) - gripping
The Hunger Games series -
