The only ones that work for me are Nice and Easy and whatever the similar L’Oréal product is. My grays are really stubborn and the others don’t work.

People always come on these threads to suggest highlights as a way to go longer between color, and it just doesn’t work for really dark hair with a lot of gray.

For that reason, I gave up on getting it professionally done each time. It’s a waste, as you said! I get it done every three months and do it myself in between. I have to do it every try 2 weeks if I want to look decent, but I usually stretch to three or 4 and roots are in full force by then. I want to quit but not quite ready yet.

What product do you use to do it yourself?

That doesn't seem normal. I color my hair at home and don't see roots until 2 weeks post-color. I color every 5 weeks, or thereabouts, because my hair grows slowly.

I got my hair cut and colored six days ago, and I can already see some gray roots. Is this normal?
If it is, I don't see the point of paying a hundred plus bucks for the color.
