I don’t think any of the sources you list- other than Twitter of course- lie. It’s rather omission or slant.

So NYT, WSJ and CNN are totally and completely pro Israeli. Their reporting consists of picking up the talking points from Israeli media specialists and publishing it.

Op. This is why I started listening to AJ

The bolded is a gross exaggeration.

I agree with the general point, but the BBC is FAR more reliable and truthful than Newsmax (for example).

Twitter doesn't belong in the conversation.

I used to believe that the BBC was reliable. I no longer do. I do not trust it any more than Newsmax, frankly.

And Twitter is the only place where facts that have been suppressed by mainstream media can be found. Now, some of those facts are not actually facts, of course. But some are.

I think one good example of this is the critical analysis of the weakness of the studies used to justify medical transition of children. I read those studies years ago, at the request of a friend whose child was considering transition, because my training is data analysis and management. I was absolutely shocked at how shoddy they were, but any critical analysis of those studies was tightly suppressed by mainstream reporting for years, due to political activism from far left trans activists. The only place where that weakness was being discussed in a serious manner was Twitter, years before mainstream media would touch the issue.

There are others examples as well, but I think that is one of the most egregious recent examples.

It always seems light on info and heavy on lies of omission when I try to read it.

My FIL is turkish and the "news" he reads in native tongue is WILD.

You're flat out mistaken.

1. Media outlets are subject to potential legal consequences. For all practical purposes, Twitter users are not. This alone creates an entirely different standard of care and quality of product.

2. Different media outlets have completely different journalistic processes and standards. If you don't understand both the reality and the import of this, you need to do some reading.

Is the institutional media perfect? No.

Is it unbiased? No.

Is it FAR more reliable than the far left or far right "media"? Unequivocally.

Be informed.

Al Jazeera leans slightly left. It is a Qatari government news organization, even if it is privately held. I read it, but I often fact check it. They also tend to support Hamas, and I do not.

Having said that, I think it is imperative we all read a variety of news sources, but that we also engage in regular fact-checking from primary sources when possible.
