Why is it odd? It tastes good, especially on a hot day. Why does it need to be replaced with something else? One beer doesn't even do anything unless you weigh 90 lbs.

What's being satisfied or quenched by the beer and shouldn't a Gatorade do the same? I thought sports drinks were to restore electrolytes. Or maybe a beer somehow restores electrolytes even better? I'm not suggesting he's drinking a single beer to get drunk. It's just always seemed so odd and I don't understand it.

He just likes it. It tastes good and the carbonation is refreshing. What's hard to understand?

Do you go around mystified by everyone's simple preferences and pleasures when you can't personally relate?

But when I'm really really thirsty on a hot day an ice cold beer is incredible.

I don’t even like beer but i am with you and OP’s husband. Lots of people like cold beer. I could not imagine my husband giving a hoot if I drank one single drink after an activity. How strange!

He probably enjoys the taste. Different people like different things.

There are a lot of people who genuinely like the taste. Beyond that, it's a cold, carbonated beverage. Another cold, carbonated beverage with a pleasing flavor would satisfy the craving is my guess.

This does not seem the big deal you are making it, to me. Why is this an issue for you? Why can't he just like the taste?

I am confused by the "insist". He's an adult. Is there a reason he can't choose what he drinks?

He watched Shawshank Redemption one too many times.

I rarely drink and it's always seemed odd that he craves a single cold beer after a run. He doesn't really drink beer at any other time. He says beer is fairly unenjoyable unless it's following a sweaty physical activity. Is there some science behind why a beer tastes good to him at only that time? I'm guessing it's not just him because I've seen light beer offered at 5Ks and other group runs events. Is there an alternative that would satisfy the same itch beer does after physical activities?
