Subject: SYC Travel vs SYC GA
There is a lot of travel in both ECNL and GA. If you are in those leagues I think your goal should be to play college soccer: D1 if you are a very high level player and D2 or 3 if you are going to use soccer to help you get into the school that you would otherwise want to attend. Most ECNL or GA players should be able to play D2 or 3 if they want to.
At any lower level of youth soccer (ECNLRL, EDP, NCSL), your goal should be to develop enough to make your high school team, potentially get minutes, get exercise, build confidence doing something you enjoy, have fun.
If you can’t or don’t want to make your high school team you should play rec. It’s still fun and there is no shame in that. It’s just not worth the time and effort and money for either the kid or the parent to do anything more.

GA is a girls only league, that is more similar to ECNL because they're both a national platform league (national and regional events all over the US), lots of travel. For conference/regular league games you can expect to travel from North Carolina to New Jersey out to Pittsburg on any given weekend.
NCSL is a regional league in the National Capital Region, you don't travel outside the DMV and typically don't require any overnight trips.
