Seriously it’s on the Army website. There are sign up bonuses for certain jobs in both enlisted and officer ranks. Google is your friend here.

Someone starting as an officer will be paid the O-1 (Ensign or 2nd Lt) pay initially. Pay table is online.

Consider carefully which service one wants to join. Each has its own pluses and minuses. And don't forget that there now is a Space Force option.

There is usually some room for negotiation.

If I were negotiating, I would prefer a commitment that DC would be assigned to the desired specialty and/or receive aid towards paying off student loans -- rather than a signing bonus.

By the way, the word "enlist" implies being an enlisted person rather than an officer. Definitely be certain they are signing up for OCS and are not enlisting as an enlisted person.

It varies by branch and what is being offered. Your son would need to stop at the recruiters for each branch and see what is presently being offered for college grads.

Some times they also get additional education (grad school) offered for free.

I have never been in the military but I have friends who have and I can say, negotiate as much as you can before signing on.

Does your son have Google and a cell phone? All of this is answerable by those two items.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the military, but they seem to be dangling pretty aggressive sign-on bonuses to those who enlist, even for reservists (?). Do young adults with a BA selected for OCS also qualify for sign-on bonuses? If so, anyone know the range they can be, or does it depend on branch and what area you go into?

Along with sing-on bonus, what can an officer expect to make if they commit to the minimum 4 (?) years?

Asking for a son who graduates from college in December 2024.
