Watch soccer, live by it, and go play. Sprint on his own. Run long distance on his own. No private training and money required.

HP Elite is great for your son's age. Top notch training sessions.

Group training is a mixed bag and often depends on the other players and the coach you end up with. Can be helpful.

Private 1-on-1 training depends on the coach. Can be good, can be a waste of time. As previously mentioned Coachup is a good starting point to see what is out there

Great advice above!

Getting groups right could be a small book.

Caveat about CoachUp: most of the coaches will use the platform 1x to meet you, then all other sessions will be off platform via Venmo / PayPal / cash. Totally normal, don’t think of it as sketchy, they just use the platform to get training leads.

Also, the best trainers aren’t on CoachUp. They don’t need to be, and you’ll sort of only stumble on them by luck - they aren’t “networked” and they don’t want to be, they just want to work with the best kids and not deal with the crazy overly ambitious parents of kids that cannot be helped to meet their parents dreams.

Also, look on Coachup.Com
Find private coach, choose a price point and maybe something will work out for you.

What do you want out of the private lessons? What are you trying to gain from the lessons? Technical, tactical? Catch-up? Foundational? Fine tuning? Drilling? Etc.

my daughter just started FE. first lesson she was only girl. second lesson, she was with another girl and a few boys. a mix has been the norm since.

there was also a female coach at 1 lesson.

i don’t think they cater more to boys, i just think there are so many more boys teams (and levels), that boy parents may be more interested in moving them up (since not too many girls even have a 4th or 5th team)

Close to you are two good options. HPElite and Beyond is a popular choice with a nice indoor facility. Future Elitez offers personal 1 on 1 training with some unique features like veo game review and attending matches. They use an indoor facility mid-nov. Both would be pricey but quality options without a long commute.
