We always lost as Anonymous, but we’re not big donors. The really big ones usually have names.

At least at our school, all donations are behind a password protected firewall. Participation by name in the annual fund by name is not something you can find by a google search. I think that's pretty standard in this area.

Ah yes the virtue signal to end all virtue signals.. the ability to tell others you don’t want credit and always donate anonymously. What heroes!!

Yes, they do.

That said, the schools generally ask the sending school directly how supportive a parent you’ve been and that includes volunteering and being part of the school community, not just donations. So you don’t need to lose anonymity to get the boost. The sending school’s development office knows exactly how much you’ve given through the years,

If you saw us and where we live, you would have thought we were on financial aid. We aren't trashy or anything, but we live very modestly. I always put our name on our donations. I like reinforcing the idea that there are millionaire next door types out there and people shouldn't judge a person's small home.

No, that’s what we do. I even do it for crowdfunding stuff. IMO it’s classier and the true spirit of giving…expecting nothing in return.

I always list as anonymous, OP, for everything including dumb little fun run donations. I still get the obligatory thank you card or call from the school for AF.

Is it weird to give only like $50 and still put “Anonymous” in the line that asks how you’d like to be listed? I’m not virtuous, just don’t want my name online anywhere for anything.

Any cons to this? Pros for us are keeping amount and child’s attendance confidential from online searches (parent’s job concerns). Am I missing anything? Do you list AF donations as Anonymous?
