Soccer is a pay to play sport in the US. If you need to shop around clubs based on cost, you probably can't afford ECNL.

This is why posts like this are pointless. There are different costs for different clubs because they have different economic factors - if you don't understand that, at a basic level, i can't help you. Maybe, just maybe, field space rental is higher in one area vs another, a club could have to use private fields or indoor facilities vs public/county fields. Maybe a club pays it's coaches or board more. Uniforms are the only thing that should be of similar costs between clubs. Even travel fees within a club vary by team because not every team goes to the same events/locations.

None of these costs are hidden, if you get an offer from a club, it's itemized and clearly outlines what you're paying for.

Clubs will charge as much as parents will pay. Clubs can also have different expenses based on fields, number of coaches and salaries, insurance, etc. But really 800 is not too significant a difference when you are spending upwards of 10000 including travel. For a true comparison of clubs you should factor in the number of trips that require hotel and plane costs. Clubs play some different out of town events.

If you have a kid playing ECNL/GA, shopping around for which club saves you a few hundred bucks is not going to make a difference. They are all expensive and about the same. You will be spending much more than that on travel, extra training, tournament merch, commuting time, and other stuff.

Was talking to one of the PDA White parents and he was saying that their coach couldnt make it to the game (also a Rutgers coach) and one of the other coaches had to cover for him. This other coach was already there BUT each family had to give the coach $7 cash to cover his expenses. Have you ever heard of this anywhere else?

Lots of clubs list a price plus other expenses. $700 difference is not $100-$200. Wondering what those “hidden costs actually are”. One club looks 20% more expensive than some others why is that?

NVA $3000 plus Playoff Participation, team fees and optional programs
FVU $3700 (all in?) not sure if there is additional on top of that

Very curious why you care? They are all about the same and a 100-200 dollar differnece is not why you should pick a club.

'All-in' is bit disingenuous, but it is a term that essentially means club fees + team fees, team fees are always subject to change dependent on which events the teams participate in, sometimes set in stone, sometimes not.

The extra costs associated will be travel costs. For girls U13/14 specifically, ECNL has massive travel costs for league play having to play Carolina teams twice, home and away, so expect to add 3 weekends worth roughly of travel to NC where GA only does one long weekend a year for league play.
