Still using pull-ups for overnight but of course using the bathroom right before bed is a must.

Surprised how many kids these days are still in night pull-ups. Is this just how things are now?

We shower every other night and on sports nights so I help with reminders there too.

Of course they both have adhd.

Anyone still have to remind kids to use the bathroom before bed or wake them up during the night to go?

I’d say by end of 2nd grade my kids could manage the whole routine themselves. I’m still around if they need something, and do song/prayers with them. I read sometimes, but not every night, since by 7ish they were wanting to read on their own.

For lower elementary, they only really need a bath if they got dirty/sweaty outside. Otherwise every 3-4 days is fine, especially in winter. I know a lot of people like to do bath everyday as a routine but I’ve never done that. It’s bad for their skin and unnecessary.

Upper elementary every 1-2 days. Totally fine to skip days.

My 9yo DS showers most nights due to sports and getting sweaty at recess or PE. He can skip on the rare day he doesn’t break a sweat. 7yo DD doesn’t exert herself as much, so she probably averages 3 showers a week during the school year.

Mine are 5 and 8. Bath once a week, showers the rest to save water. They brush their own teeth while I help wash the other kid. Oldest can do it all herself but she enjoys the company. They find their own pjs and brush hair and they read or I read to them for 15 min, sing a song and lights out. They share a room so the oldest usually reads some more to herself with a light (she has a curtain around her bunk).

Every night, bath, books, bed. Younger kids, we read to them, older kids, they read to us

For elementary schoolers how much of your kids getting ready for bedtime do you still help with? Do you give a choice if they want a bath or shower before bed?
