Seems a bit over the top. This isn’t a class with attendance grades! An email from the prospective applicant to the AO explaining they were sick and asking about upcoming visit opportunities or future info sessions should suffice.

It can’t hurt to call or email. DD had to cancel a tour last minute due to a family emergency and was later invited to join an already full tour instead. And even though the school does not say it tracks demonstrated interest, the visit appears in DDs applicant portal so they are at least aware.

All the ones we've signed up for have instructions if you need to cancel. Check your registration email. DD can email saying she was looking forward to attending, but can't due to illness. She can mention the visit to campus so they know she's already demonstrated interest.

I would send a polite email. Is there another one you could attend?

What school? Tulane it absolutely makes a difference to meet regional AO.

DC should call so they can hear how awfully sick they sound.

DC should e-mail or call the number/event arranging contact e-mail.

Also e-mail the AO. So few people bother to be polite, it might get positive attention.

Keep the explanation brief.

Does the school

I saw that my DC's first choice university was hosting an info session close to our home. Even though she has visited the university and attended info sessions while there, I thought it might be nice to attend another event with a chance to meet the admisssions officer for our area. DC is sick and was running a fever all day and is very congested -looks and sounds horrible. I can no longer attend either due to work. How bad does it look to just not show up? Will it be noticed? Should I send an email, should DC send an email? Apparently this is a university that tracks interest closely. I feel bad that I registered for this event and can't go. What's the best way to handle this?
