Aren’t there plans for a Friendship Heights Trader Joe’s?

I hope there is some other store, aldi, Trader Joe’s (so there seem to be already 2 in Bethesda), anything really except for the useless Amazon fresh.

I haven’t been since the reopening, although I’ve been while they were in the process of changing things. They got rid of the not-really-a-butcher counter. They’ve always had milk, butter, and eggs when I’ve been there — usually in the evening. I’ve been frustrated since the opened because they’re very inconsistent , and often out of things. They do seem to have added some things and brands that they didn’t have before. Fingers crossed. I’d rather have a small Giant though, even the one that was there before.

They have stopped the automatic check out, which I loved. However, the store has always been problematic. Many shelves are empty, there’s not a great selection and they don’t seem to have anyone going around the store to push items to the front of the shelf, which makes it tough for a short person like me.

I really really want the store to work because it’s very close to me but each time I go brings new frustrations.

Yes, there is no warm atmosphere like in other supermarkets. Whole Foods feels very welcoming. Giant does too. Costco, despite it's factory size, also feels welcoming. Fresh is so cold, physically and figuratively.

I love Amazon as a business and investment opportunity, but those Fresh stores are so badly designed. Ugh.

Did you get good swag?

Just went into the Amazon Fresh in Chevy Chase, nothing changed.
