Agree. I have wavy hair and did sulfate free for a long time based on hairdresser recommendations but gave up and did the Pantene Moisture shampoo and conditioner. It's great. If my hair doesn't feel dirty or is getting dry I'll skip a shampoo and just rinse and condition. But most days I shampoo and as long as I do a leave in and use a wave creme my hair is fine. Way better than with sulfate free.

I always felt that Suave scent was a ripoff of Aveda Rosemary Mint mid-priced salon shampoo. You can get Aveda Rosemary Mint from Amazon. You can also buy drugstore brands off Amazon. Read reviews to make sure the sender packages things carefully to avoid spills.

My favorite shampoo (a less popular drugstore brand) was discontinued about 3 years ago. I'm still in mourning. Good luck out there.

Which shampoo was it?

I went sulfate-free years ago because I have fine hair that was prone to being oily and I read sulfates could cause kind of a rebound effect. I like the Aveeno apple cider vinegar clarifying shampoo a few times a week and I also use the Trader Joe’s Tea tree oil one. I have also used the Neutrogena grapefruit one weekly to remove build up.

I love Suave daily clarifying shampoo. Smells so good. I trade it off with Pantene moisturizing shampoo. Sometimes I use a shampoo bar, though it isn’t my favorite. But a few days a week still saves a bit of plastic.

Yes someone whose nose is too high in the air to reach the "drug store brands" is going to try Suave.

My hairdresser told me that baby shampoo is super harsh and can be used in an emergency to fade a too dark dye. I keep this on hand for just such emergencies - and Prell.

Neutrogena has a grapefruit shampoo that is the only product my DD with oily hair uses.

I often use regular Head and Shoulders as a clarifying deep cleanse and it always makes my hair look good.

I am struggling with all the sulfate free shampoo. It doesnt clean my hair properly and sometimes I think it smells!

I have wavy shoulder-length hair, that is NOT color treated so fading/toning is not an issue. As far as reading labels the only ones i find with sulfate is drug store brands but i havent used those for years. Got any recs for shampoo that actually cleans hair??
