The new art museum at Colonial Williamsburg is worth a visit.

You can get there by train from Richmond and uber in.

You could take the train to CW for the day and uber to the historic area.

Me again, If you want to do VMHC, the chocolate making demos are cool:

My kids liked that last year, the same week you'll be there.

7:58 again, forgot you requested restaurants. We've been to these years ago so look at current reviews.

https://www.lemairerestaurant.com/ That's the one at the Jefferson Hotel.

https://www.thetobaccocompany.com/ This is in a neat building.

https://www.secretsandwichsociety.com/ Sandwiches named after Presidents and First Ladies. I've been here more recently but still a number of years ago.

McDonald's is right next to/ walking distance to the Children's Museum and Science Museum. 😂

With kids or not? I could happily spend a week in Richmond. 😍 In addition to what other commenters mentioned:

https://virginiahistory.org/exhibitions/traveling-bricks -- This is a great museum and that exhibit may appeal to adults and kids. Also has a small kids room so a parent can stay with little kids in there, while the other parent looks at the museum, and the museum is small enough to cater to their attention span. The kids' area has a dentist kit, pretend food truck, post office to sort VA postcards, etc.

Children's Museum of Richmond -- my kids love this one.

Just walking Broad Street, Grace St., etc.

Driving Broad St from West of the city coming into town.

Driving Cary Street Road. So beautiful.

Science Museum of Virginia -- can't convince my kids to go there but I've been in the past and it's cool.

Capitol building tour -- it's been a while, but I loved this.

Jefferson Hotel -- they have teas and brunches.

Maggie L Walker National Historic Site -- if you have kids in VA, I believe they will have learned about her.

Shockoe Bottom area is cool.

Plenty of Civil War stuff around if you're into that kind of thing.

This is a good list but Richmond for a week is way too much. A weekend tops.

Side trips to Charlottesville or Williamsburg would be good too.

What are some places to eat you’ve enjoyed? We are staying downtown.
We welcome recommendations for museums and historic sites, too. Thank you.
