And you, please, don't comment until you can be encouraging.

The first pound can be very significant. It was for me. I weighed myself regularly every morning for a long time to know that my weight fluctuates and the range within which it fluctuates on a daily basis. When that weight goes down a full pound below the normal range, especially when one has begun a specific weight-loss effort, one knows it is a genuine pound lost and the beginning of a weight loss journey. OP likely knows what her normal weight is and therefore is confident this is an actual lost pound.

I'm looking forward to celebrating OP's second pound.

Op here - thank you! I appreciate it! And yes this is what I mean - over a pound lower than the lowest range of my normal variation, weighing myself at the same time every day. Not "I lost half a pound after I went to the bathroom!"

I agree that it's not much but the beginning of a downward trend is nice!

Oh, I meant the first definite pound after accounting for normal variation & bloating.

Ignore them, op!! Celebrate your focus and commitment to getting back on track. Every pound counts!

Make sure you weigh in at the same time so you can take into account daily fluctuations. I weigh in right after going to the bathroom in the morning when I’m my lightest.

Weight loss begins with the first pound. Is OP supposed to wait until she's lost 5# to say she's lost her first pound?

OK a pound is not real weight loss. It's just a normal fluctuation of weight due to water. I go to bed at 130 and wake up at 129. Did I lost a pound? No, it's just pee. Tonight I'll weigh 131, did I gain 2 pounds? No, it's just water.

+100
Duh.

Congrats, OP!

I waited until my youngest was, um, 18? And by that point I was probably 30 lbs heavier than I was pre-pregnancy. I was still able to lose the weight (plus an extra 10 or 15 pounds) over the course of 7 or 8 months. It's never too late!

It's only been a week but I need to celebrate success to stay motivated. Congrats to everyone getting a tiny bit closer to their goals!

Congratulations!
Good for you for doing this now. It took me many more years and many more pounds, and I'm still now just to my highest pregnancy weight.
Keep it up! (your efforts, not your weight!)

OP, congratulations! I was in a similar situation--except a lot heavier post-pregnancy, because I had HG during pregnancy that wrecked my metabolism, significant postpartum depression compounded by a move, and then my thyroid stopped working right. It's only in the last year that I, too, have finally not be exhausted and overwhelmed. My body isn't holding on to every single calorie. I'm on the right dose of thyroid meds. I'm not dealing with crippling depression. I made the decision that DH had to step it up at home so I could carve out gym time for myself.

You've got this, OP. Keep going!
