No, I think she's just done with the early mornings and the amount of time it sucks from her life. She just moved to the 'burbs. She has a child who somewhat medically fragile. She's 60. Why shouldn't she do a slow retirement?


Exactly. And she's got 2 young kids she waited a long time to have. The best part of waiting to have kids until later is the financial stability. She has plenty of options.

You might be right, although the show is still an advertising juggernaut for NBC so I don't think they're struggling for cash. I work full time and watch the first half hour when I can. My guess is that the retiree viewers are huge.

I like Hoda (what I know from TV and her book) and I respect her choice. I recall she needed to take a long leave for an illness with one of her kids. I have been there and it changed me and my prioritizes. I wish her lots of happiness with this new chapter.

She made the announcement this morning that she'll be there through January, then leaving the show. She's staying as part of the NBC family. She turned 60 this year and wants to turn the page and be more available for her young girls.

I hope Craig gets the anchor chair full-time.

Will the Hoda/Jenna drinking hour finally go away? Jenna must be frazzled with this news.
