Those issues exist even if you aren't in SMCS. The only difference is SMCS has better math.

There's no robotics in the curriculum and not really engineering unless you count the research class but there's only a few small design components.
Can they tolerate CS? Many kids have a strength or interest in one area.

Yes, because they can delve deeply into math with electives in their 3rd and 4th year. Also, they will have to take science anywhere. The math courses at Blair go deeper into these subjects than other schools. They will have a leg up on college level math since they will be used to thinking about proofs. The other thing that SMCS teaches is how to do research and think like a scientist. This may be helpful to them as well.
