I like having a vanity in a guest bath, for the comfort of my guests I stock feminine products, painkillers, extra TP, etc. That way people have access to stuff if they need it.

We have a plunger in our cabinet, since it's used my guests and I'd rather they have it without needing to ask for it.

In a powder room there's no need for guests to keep a toothbrush or something for example on the sink, so it's a good option for a powder room.

My kids brush their teeth in our powder room and we store all kinds of stuff in the cabinet underneath. Ex: extra hand towels, sunscreen, lotion, and lots of toilet paper. It's a heavily used bathroom, since it's the only one on our main living level, so I like having a cabinet. A pedestal sink would drive me bonkers.

So unless you really love a pedestal, I'd get a nice cabinet. You can store toilet paper for the entire household in there if you need a reason .

They’re the way to go because they are cheap AF. Do better. A vanity is so much nicer, even a small one.

I would much prefer a small vanity to a pedestal sink. I like to store basic cleaning supplies, extra rolls of toilet paper, etc. in each bathroom and don’t like seeing those things on open shelving on walls.

We just redid our powder room and replaced the existing vanity with another vanity. I love the aesthetics of a pedestal sink but we needed the storage since it is the only bathroom on our main level. We keep mouthwash, lotion, sunscreen, and a few other similar toiletries and cleaning products in the vanity so that we do not need to run upstairs every time we need something. I also like to keep extra toilet paper in the vanity.

+1 How much storage to you need in a powder room? And if your powder room is really small, I’d opt for a wall hung sink. So many cute options to choose from. Have fun with it OP! Wallpaper or bold paint color, a nice fight fixture and mirror, classic floor tile can really transform your room from ordinary to extraordinary.

Loss of storage space and loss of counter space: not a fan of pedestal sinks.

We currently have a vanity in our powder room. It is 20 + years old. Pedestal sinks seem to be the way to go in all new builds. Apart from the obvious loss of storage space, what differences do you see? Which way would you go?
