Glad we didn't hold back our smart capable kid. So are they. They don't get more mature by holdling back... they are a year older, which makes them less mature as they were held back.
Glad your son was successful. Just sharing our story. He struggles in school and is immature. Would be a lot less drama with an extra year under his belt. But glad for you and that you knew your son.

My late September son is taking a gap year now.
Academically held their own.
The "accelerated pace" took a toll around socialization, rental agreements, dating, etc. so I appreciate this idea.

I would call and ask. For many privates there's not a cut-off, but rather what grade you are in currently determines what grade you will be placed in.

My son's birthday is at the end of September.
What is the "cut off" for the grade? Thinking of grade 8 or 9. Spouse and I are debating pros and cons.
Student is athletic, and might be cut from teams later without the year to grow....if that matters.
