But why don't you just move to a regular car if you want to behave in an unquiet manner? What you think is quiet may not be what the rest of the car thinks.

Sometimes the train is full.

There are signs everywhere indicating that it's a quiet car. I was once sitting next to a woman who started to have a full on video meeting! I asked her to stop or relocate to another car. She was aware, she just didn't care.

How on earth do you "accidentally" get in a quiet car? You choose it, when you buy your ticket. And there are signs posted everywhere.

God, I hate so many people sometimes.

So only absolute silence is ok for you? One time I laughed ( not a crazy laugh or loud) and this man rushed over to tell me off. So rude and unnecessary. I am a rule follower but honestly to me quiet means no loud talking on the cell phone, no loud music or shouting but, a 5 second laugh that is barely audible should be allowed. This was the only car available btw

I've never been in a quiet car that quiet wasn't enforced. Though I've only ridden the Acela between DC and NYC. Maybe it's different than a regular Amtrak train.

Is the quiet car supposed to be a silent car?

I would love that.

One thing I love about the quiet car is aggressive enforcement of the quiet rules by those in it. I am surprised this isn't happening!!

They should be forced off of the train at the next stop.

At speed

Or moved to an empty seat in a non-quiet car.

Some people do not realize it's a quiet car. On regular Amtrak there is not a special ticket. My 80 year old mother will remind them!
