Get an suv with a third row.

We have the 3 row Grand Cherokee L with Captain's chairs. The 3rd row is very useable and easily accessible with the captain's chairs. I'd put the baby in a captain's chair and have one of the older kids in the third row. You can put half the 3rd row down for more trunk space. We use a roofbox for longer trips. It has been great in all kinds of weather and the Limited has lots of features that make it feel a bit luxury. We were thinking of trading in for another one because there are tons of sales right now.

VW Atlas, useable 3rd row and still some truck space with 3rd row up.

Right now, I have a 15 year old and an 8 year old and a surprise baby on the way this holiday season. We need to upgrade from our Cherokee and I'm overwhelmed by the options. I'm considering the Telluride and in the past I've driven a CX-9. We are also a family of tall folks(I'm the shortest at 5'10"). We mostly drive in suburbia/exurbs, but I have an hour commute to work...suggestions?
