It did when I was doing longer fasts (like 20-4 or going 24 hours) but I stopped that and don’t really do IF anymore esp after significant research showing lower life span. I guess you have to balance that with risk if overweight (which I am not, it was vanity pounds).

100-%. You’ve likely been gaining while entering perimenopause so you started IF to try to lose weight at the same time your period is going wonky from the perimenopause you’re in. It’s correlation, not causation.

Nope, didn’t change my cycle at all. Peri sure did though…

No. It's peri.

IF did help my periods regulate to a really regular every 28 days. That was about 10 years ago in my 40s. I'm now 54 and menopause is just around the corner, so ... regular isn't in my vocabulary any more!!

It was a week late, so it was brown because it was older and more oxidized.

No, it did not for me. It could just be co-incidental with the beginning of peri-menopause. I successfully lost 15 pounds from IF around 48-49, and my periods were regular like clockwork. I started having irregular periods at 50. I had months of no periods, and then extended bleeding beyond 2 weeks a few times during that year. OBGYN confirmed this w/ bloodwork that my estrogen levels indicated PM. Now, a year later, I am still experiencing some periods (light or normal) but not completely in menopause yet.

Are you eating nutritious food with healthy fats during your eating window?

Well for me it helped regulate my periods and hormones but I have PCOS so I know it is kind of uniquely helpful for that specific condition and that might not be universal.

I'm 45 and have about 40 pounds to lose. I started intermittent fasting this month, with an 8/16 window. My period was over a week late and very light and umm, brown. (Sorry for the TMI). Pregnancy test negative and I felt silly for even taking it.

Is this just a weird coincidence? I've read that IF can mess with hormones, but also that it's a go-to diet for women nearing (gulp!) menopause.
