Seriously try that first instead of assuming some other parent has more free time than you.
I volunteered once a week in 1st grade and did reading groups. I worked with a couple of the slower readers.
In 2nd I went in once a week and did photocopying, laminating, organizing, some in the classroom and some in other parts of the school.
Talk to the teacher about your availability/commitment level and see what they say.
