+1

Lots of summer clubs in Potomac and Bethesda - too many to get on all the waiting lists now.

And a number that don’t have waiting lists. . . I think Wildwood Manor and Seven Locks don’t have waiting lists or boundaries. Bannockburm also?

There are 102 teams in the NVSL (Northern Virginia Swim League). If you choose to live in Virginia, chances are pretty good you will find a summer team. Some pools have long waitlists, others have none. The teams and their waitlist info can all be found on mynvsl.com. On that website you can also see how each team competed this season (and previous seasons if you are so inclined to look). This would give you an indicator on where your kids might fall on the competitive scale.

Anywhere you land, summer swim is meant to be fun and an engaging experience for your swimmers. Good luck!

We plan on trying out for NCAP and any other local clubs that would be near the areas we are looking for their club team. Kids are A and AA times. So they are good, not great.

I do not work, so I can drive a bit but hear traffic can be bad. So close is better.

Looking to move either Great Falls, North Arlington, Potomac or Bethesda area. We have not narrowed it down.

In N. Arlington you can try Knight of Columbus or Ft Myer. They both have good swim teams and no waitlists. Ft Myer is on the military base, but they allow non-millitary kids to join the swim team. If you sign up when they open, you'll get a spot without trouble in either. They are both in the Colonial Swim League.

In McLean, Chesterbrook has sign ups in January and no waitlist for summer use, but you have to put your name in right when it opens and don't find out if you got a spot until it's too late to try for other swim clubs. Chesterbrook is a very, very competitive team so don't expect your kids to swim A meets unless they are very, very good.

If moving to Virginia, summer league is part of NVSL and many of the pools have long waiting lists to join. If you tell us what area specifically we can offer more help.

When they say long wait lists... they mean YEARS! not joking.

But no waitlists in Great Falls.

Don’t listen to this person. If you are in NOVA, you definitely DONT want to join a pool in MD. For a summer swim team, see which one is closest to your house, that has memberships and kids who your kids know. Then have fun! Summer swim is very different from club

There are country club leagues and others like NVSL and MCSL. There are waitlists some places and not others. Once you narrow down where you want to live, it will be easier to provide you with actual info.

Your locations in Maryland would be MCSL, which consists mostly of teams based at private pools and a few based at public pools ( = no membership waitlist). MCSL divides teams into divisions A through O, 6 per division, and seeds them annually based on computerized swim-offs of best times. Divisions A through C/D are the most competitive (of course); the lower the division of your pool, the more likely that more slightly-slower swimmers can make the A meets (YMMV). But I wouldn't choose where I moved based on summer league - and I'm a _huge_ MCSL fan. Find where you want to live first, and then get on the waiting lists for the pool(s) of your choice (usually where your neighbors go): in the meantime, you should be able to put your kids on one of the public-pool MCSL teams (like Bethesda).

Yup. Need more info about your kid(s) and their expectation (A meets, B meets, fun, serious).

Moving in the Spring and would like to pick a general area and put our names on the waitlists for the swim clubs. What are the summer leagues in the area?
